Our youth climbing programs provide a range of opportunities for the aspiring climber with recreational and competitive options. Rock climbing is an exciting sport for anyone willing to push their limits in the vertical world. It allows for a social outlet in an individual sport format. Participants train toward achieving their personal best. However, climbing and training in a peer environment brings the support, inspiration, and companionship provided by a group of individuals motivated by a common goal. Our programs promote safety, confidence, strength, and focus, both mentally and physically. Best of all, they can start building the foundation for a healthy lifestyle and climb for years to come.


RECREATIONAL CLIMBING CLUBS

fun_camp_smWelcome to Stone Age’s Youth Recreational Climbing Club!
This is offered to anyone from the ages 8‐14 interested in making rock climbing part of their life as an after-school activity. It is a great place for kids to learn about themselves and break through barriers. This program focuses on building climbing skills, developing strength, and creating goals. Club members will learn to belay and climb under the close supervision of our staff. Our 1:6 instructor to student ratio ensures that your child will receive personal attention to help them learn the basics of rock climbing in a fun and supportive setting.

We have two different sessions for middle school climbers (ages 11‐14), which meet once a week every Tuesday or Thursday from 4 to 6 pm and for elementary school climbers (ages 8‐10), which meet once a week every Wednesday or Friday from 4:30 to 6:00 pm. There are four seasons during the school year, two per semester, and each season runs for 9 weeks. We are closed on some holidays and do not give refunds if your session falls on a holiday.

The cost is $99.95 per month. This program includes the weekly session, a full gym membership, and one free top rope belay class for parents so that the kids can practice skills outside of sessions. There are also sibling discounts and family plans available.

Meeting Information

Attending a parent meeting is required for new parents in order to register their child for any Climbing Club and sometimes we require re-enrolling parents to attend meetings when program changes are made. This informational meeting will provide more detail and information about the program and pricing. Meeting date and time will be provided after contacting the Youth Program Coordinator.


ALTERNATIVE PE

altpe_smLooking for something during school hours? Our Alternative PE class is designed to provide an alternative to traditional P.E. for home schooled students that may be lacking an outlet for organized physical play and exercise. It is another great place for kids to socialize and experience recreational climbing. This program focuses on building the basics. Our low 1:5 instructor to climber ratio ensures quality instruction and supervision for your child. The Alternative P.E. class meets on Thursday afternoons from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and is appropriate for kids ages 8 to 13 years old.

The cost is $99.95 per month. This program includes the Thursday sessions, a full gym membership, and one free class for parents so that the kids can practice skills outside of sessions. There are also sibling discounts and family plans available. We are closed on some holidays and do not give refunds if your session falls on a holiday.

spider_monkey_smTeam Mojo was founded in 2001 and is Albuquerque’s only Competitive Youth Climbing Team. This program is intended for kids and teens interested in pursuing rock climbing as a competitive sport. Practices consist of plenty of climbing complemented by training exercises, skills classes, and goal setting. The program is currently organized into two teams based on age.

To earn a spot on Team Mojo we host open tryouts twice per year: once in August and once in February. This coincides with two different seasons scheduled by our mother organization, USA Climbing, www.USAClimbing.org. We will advertise our tryout sessions when we get closer to the event. The Teams:

Team Mojo is broken into two teams. Mojo 2 is our younger team starting at age 7 and Mojo 1 is our older team going until age 18.  The split between the teams can fluctuate but generally, it’s around age 12 or 13. No matter what team you are invited to, you can expect quality instruction and personal attention. All our teams feature a low 1:6 coach to athlete ratio to make sure everyone gets the support needed to achieve their best performances.  Practices are two and half hours. The cost for Team Mojo is $229.95 per month which includes practices, a full gym membership with all member benefits, and free rental equipment. Competitions and outdoor trips are planned each season with additional costs. We are closed on some holidays and do not give refunds if your session falls on a holiday.

Our Schedule:

Mojo 1 meets on Mondays from 4:15 to 6:45 pm and Tuesdays & Fridays from 4:00 to 6:30 pm
